It's a nice park, a very nice park.

It probably should be, since we're paying more for a w/e site than beachfront in Florida, South Carolina and Missippi. This is the highest-priced state park we've stayed at. And it's not like there are options.

We're here for Mom to visit relatives.

So we're told that if someone leaves the FHU walkup sites we can move. We watched the guy in D24 pull off his site and I was at the office before he got to the checkout and the site was taken. A non-reservable walkup site. Found out a park host was sitting on it saving it for someone and had registered them before the occupant had checked out.

Another woman was at the office complaining about the exact same thing; a park host sitting on a site in his four-wheeler saving the site for someone.

So we have at least two park hosts saving walkup sites and checking folks in even before the previous occupants had checked out. How is that reasonable?

Yes we'll have a chat with the park manager who happens to be Mom's cousin. But the point is the shoddy treatment of customers. We've never gotten the "and the horse you rode in on" treatment at any state park before.

Thanks for allowing me to ventilate.

Good for you. This is the only way to stop this kind of abuse. Thanks!

I did send a complaint up the line. A calm complaint, actually.

Well the host is probably buddies with the park manager, so do send your letters to all the higher ups plus the manager. That is abuse of the host position.

Wow! Indiana has a reservation system for every campsite, but if one is open and you walk in, you can get it on the spot. But still, if the site is designated 'walk in' ... no reservations ... well... that just sucks! Yea! Send your complaints up the corporate ladder and make those camp hosts "proud!"

Don't complain here send a letter not an email to the Kentucky State Park Commissioner, I would CC it to the Governors office and Kentucky Tourism. And if you live in Kentucky your state senator and state representative. I've had excellent results when you complain to the top.
