Long Point County Park FL

Has anyone ever been here? Is it a suitable alternative to Sebastian Inlet SP campground? They are practically on top of each other.

??? The roads inside Long Point are paved. There is only one short stretch of road out at the point that is dirt, and not paved. ???
The mile or so long road, with a number of sharp corners going into the park, is not really potholed, but very uneven, as if heavy equipment had been down the road. I don't remember it being as bad, on previous visits. I'm really surprised that it's not that crowded tonight, since it normally fills up on weekends in the summer. Perhaps the rain earlier today, and the prediction of more rain tomorrow is the reason.

I've not camped in Sebastian Inlet SP, but we did spend a few nights at Long Point. We really enjoyed it. The inter-coastal waterway was literally 20 -25 ft from the back of our MH. Yes, the roads were not paved but is that really a priority? You could walk from your RV to the water an throw in a line, and one night dolphins swam right buy our campsite. The kids loved it! If you have a kayak take it along, it was a great area to kayak.

I was looking to go the end of March for Spring Break and stay a few days. I wanted to go to Sebastian Inlet and they are booked up, but Long Point has a few sites open the days I was looking at. Thanks for all the help!!

I've camped at Sebastian Inlet several times and recently at Long Point when I wasn't able to get a reservation at Sebastian.

At Sebastian, all the roads are paved and the campsites are solid surface. Some are close together, but many are private. There is a museum, fishing piers, walking trails, boat and kayak launch, and the Atlantic ocean beaches a short walk.

At Long Point, the road to it is potholed so you'll want to drive slowly. Most of the roads in the campground are dirt, and most of the sites are dirt and tend to rut in heavy rain. The park itself is large and there is plenty of area to walk. The rest rooms are not large, but adequate.

The place is not nearly as nice as Sebastian, but few are. Still, if you can't get into Sebastian, Long Point is a good second choice.

The photo below is from when I stayed there in January. Had no problem getting a waterfront site. Notice I had to park on the grass.

Did a Google search on "Long Point County Park FL" and looked at street view. If camping in an open field is what your looking for, then this is the spot.

I'm heading there as soon as I can motivated to get on the road this AM. :B
It will be my 29th trip there. It's a great place if you have a boat, since many of their sites are right on the water. Many ( but not all) have access to pull your boat up to the site. They also have a boat ramp.
They have a very small pond for swimming, which is open for swimming, or sometimes not open for swimming ?
There is also a small playground, with relatively new equipment, which is currently "closed for safety reasons" ?
The utility hookups are relatively new. They had been destroyed a few years back, when a hurricane tore the park up. There is no shade, if that's a consideration.
Years ago when I had a pop up, and didn't bring a boat, I didn't like this park for that reason.
My son was supposed to be coming up this evening, with the boat. The boat just got out of the shop yesterday, after having fuel issues corrected (again). There are just too many other issues with the boat, so he's not coming up. I'll be there myself with no boat, but it's just for a couple of nights. It also cost $45 to cancel a reservation on short notice, so I might as well go. :B
I have never camped at Sebastian Inlet S.P., so I can't help you on that one. I'm pretty sure none of their sites have water access, although some overlook the water.
I noticed you're from Ohio, so you're possibly thinking of visiting during the winter. This place fills up every year with snowbirds, so reserving a site in that time period could be a problem, if you don't get one far enough in advance. This time of year, it's relatively empty during the week, but fills up every weekend.
