Looking for a campground with in 2-3 hrs from Long Island

Hello all,

We have a group from the firehouse that goes camping once a year and we are possibly looking for a new spot. We used to go to Kitattiny upstate, it has a stream running through it and they have paint ball and rafting as things to do. The down side is we have both RVs and Tent campers and the RVs don't fit well near the tent campers. We tried out Wild Wood State park this year and over it all it worked out pretty good but there isn't much to do other then hang in the campground.
  • Here are a couple of good ones!

  • I live on Long Island as well. We always head up to the Catskills or Adirondacks. We try to stay in the 2-3 hour range. We now stay at Yogi Bear Jellystone at Lazy River. We live in Merrick and door to door is 119 miles. I have friends from Long Island with seasonal sites at Lazy River and most weekend campers are from Long Island.

This is a family owned campground with the owner living in the CG. Everything is perfectly maintained, activities for kids and lots to do outside the campground. It is right on the Wallkill River, but right now the river is low due to lack of rain. We have 10 weekends booked this season and maybe more.

There is another Yogi Bear in Woodridge which is a great CG, but nothing to do outside of the CG.
