looking for a Florida lot

My wife and I are headed to Florida on Wednesday. While there, we'd like to look at possible lots to purchase. We would prefer central-ish, perhaps Gulf side; nothing much above Ocala or below Fort Myers. We like the Leesburg/Clermont area. We would only be down there a couple months in the winter, and maybe a couple short visits at other times, so we would like a place where we could rent the lot when we're not there. Pickle ball courts are a must, and line dancing would be a plus, too. We'd prefer a site with its own electric meter, not shared with other sites, and with reasonable - maybe $100-125/month fees. We plan to look at Cypress Trails in Fort Myers; can anyone offer any insight to that resort? We appreciate any input from members. Thanks.

If you have a class A motorhome and are also 55+, check out Mt. Olive Shores North in Polk City. It is just north of I-4 in the center of the state. The monthly fees are right where you want them. We have lots large enough to build a home, but can also just have a motorhome pad. We have two clubhouses, two pools, 3 pickleball courts, line dancing, bicycling, community pontoon boat, two lakes, lots of other activities & events, and a great sense of community. You can also rent the lot when not in use on a monthly basis.

Generally speaking, the further north you are willing to stay in Florida, and further inland, the cheaper the lot prices are going to be. We have looked around between Punta Gorda and Naples for 2 years and just purchased last week.

We are currently staying in a really nice RV only resort where everyone owns there own lots. There are plenty for sale and the prices range from $80,000 to $120,000. This is in the town of Ft. Myers Beach. Not sure what fees are.

What we purchased was a lot in a park (Punta Gorda) that have manufactured homes. Our lot is on a canal and is big enough to place a 1300-1400 square foot home on. The lot price was under $20,000 and monthly fees are right at $145.00, which include water, sewer, and lawn care. Park has heated pool, all the courts, and 2 billiard tables.

Good luck with your search.

Not inland but Chassa Oaks RV Resort in Homosassa and Nature Coast Landings in Crystal River has lots for sale. Chassa Oaks is smaller park near shopping. Dont' know if they still have lots for sale but they do have monthly rentals.

The fees I'm referring to are the association dues if we decide to purchase. We've seen many in that range in nice areas. Is that so very out of line?

Surely you jest, $100/mo?

Try Bee's RV resort in Clermount. They have RV lots for a 99 year lease and some for sale. Not sure how the program works, look under park models and rvs for sale tab.
