We are in Sonora, not Sonoma, California and are looking for new camping spots that are close or on the beach. Full hookups are not necessary but would be nice especially city water. I would also like to be within 2-4 hours of home seeing as this will be a weekend trip. Thanks for all suggestions!

Thanks for the compliment. Watch for lots of new features on RVParkReviews when it moves soon to its new server and improved software. A phone app is even being developed.

Reserveamerica.com

I used both of these. I copied the wiki list into an Excel spreadsheet so I can make notations such as 'day use only' in order to reduce searches in the future. Note that reserve america doesn't cover all the state beaches or parks and some are covered by cities, counties, and the state.

I know of a few good beach spots but they are mostly towards Southern California.

My buddy out of Sacramento likes this spot http://lawsonslanding.com/ABOUT/LOCATION.aspx

Here's what I do when looking for a new camping spot. I go on to rvparkreviews.com and find a beach city near where I would like to camp that has a campground listed on the website. The listing for that city shows all of the campgrounds in the city plus all of the nearby cities for about 25 miles that also have campgrounds. Then it's just a matter of reading through the reviews, looking at the campground website and map to find possibilities within your 2-4 hour range. RV Park Reviews is a great website for finding possible sots to stay in just by listing a city where you want to stay.
