Looking to try RGV next year

After 10 years in Arizona, we are thinking of trying the Rio Grande Valley next year. Can anyone recommend a good location for a first try? Some of the activities we like are line dancing, pickleball, hiking.....

You might like the area just West of Mission on Bentsen Palm Drive. Several parks here at various cost levels as low as $200.00 a month for a longer stay. We are 2 miles from the World Birding Center, about 3 miles from the National Butterfly Center and on a paved bicycle trail. Close to the freeway but far enough so you don't see or hear it. Many park activities and other parks have many of their activities open to residents of nearby parks. Just barely rural but close to everything, also day trips to Mexico and the beaches of South Padre Island.

No reason to bring a "Mountain" bike either, although we do have some biking/walking places. Hard to call them trails.

For hiking there are several state parks which are part of the World Birding Center with miles of nice hiking trails.

We just spent three months at Alamo Rec Veh Park in Alamo, TX. Good park for visiting the area. They have an RC club for cars, drones, and boats. It is convenient to shopping. Several golf courses are convenient. Nuevo Progresso is about twenty miles.

Saying all of that when we go back in two-three years we'll probably stay at Monte Cristo in Edinburg because they have a par 72 golf course on site. I'm an avid golfer.

If you're calling to make reservations, make sure to ask about any "Winter Texan" specials.

BTW, we didn't see any park completely full all season.

Not sure on an RV park recommendation since their personalities vary so widely. Palmdale RV in Los Fresnos was older/basic, but the friendliest park we've ever stayed.

You might want to also research "Rockport, TX" area! Lots of reasonable RV Parks. Allot of winter texans during the winter. Great Bay views, fishing, kayaking, beaches, seafood! It is on the south TX coast. We loved it so much after wintering 6 winters that we moved here@

After spending one winter in the RGV, we opted for Arizona. No way would I ever do another winter in RGV.

Not a great area for hiking but you can't beat it for dancing. Our park has two race tracks, a lake, and plans for an indoor drone/helicopter facility for the RC enthusiasts. We also have a very active and fun Single's group. Most parks have a niche of some kind and with over 400 parks to choose from there are plenty of options.

Its been a couple of years but Llano Grande in Mercedes (lots from Canada there) and Victoria Palms in Donna are good. Lots of parks there....pick a budget and pick a park....most are OK for what you pay.
Not sure where you stay in AZ but both parks are similar to Palm Creek in Casa Grande a bit nicer than Voyager in Tucson.
