Anyone stayed here lately? We did years ago and it was private park. Now it comes up under Larimer county as if the county now owns it. Any info is appreciated. ML

There's a Mary's Lake cg in FL too. Thought you were talking about that one. Helpful hint: It helps if you put the State in the subject line.

This is my "go to" location for when I'm in Estes Park. It is owned by Larimer County and is known as Estes Park Campground at Mary's Lake. There's also the Estes Park Campground at East Portal that's also owned by the County.

There are 3 different areas. There's full hookups sites that are your typical pull through sites all in a row and somewhat close together. There's a section that's water/electric that are back in sites; that's where I always go. Then there's a tenting area that is in the lower part of the campground area, away from the other 2 areas. Tenters also sometimes use the water/electric sites, and there are also a few boondocking sites interspersed with the water/electric sites.

2 bath houses, they are always clean and plenty of hot water -- at least every time I've been there. The showers are pay showers, it's $2 in quarters for 6 minutes. For me, I've always found that's plenty of time to shower and it actually seems to be a bit more than 6 minutes. You can feed extra quarters in before time runs out to extend the time if needed.

Everything is gravel/dirt here. The sites are level. The water/electric sites are near the dam for Mary's Lake which is across the street from the sites and you look UP at the dam and roadway. There's traffic on the roadway but it's not overly distracting. The site I usually select is near the roadway, but we rarely notice the traffic noise -- it's not all that heavily travelled.

Sites are $37 for either full hookups or water/electric only, and $27 for standard no hookup sites. Reservations are accepted but there's also walk in sites as well. I usually go up on a Sunday afternoon and have had no problem getting a site without reservations. If I go up for the weekend on a Friday or Saturday, I usually book a spot.

Stayed there last August before the floods. It was a pretty good place to park. The area campgrounds were full and it is a busy place. It is a lot like a commercial campground. It had WiFi and restrooms and showers. We were out sightseeing most of the time and it was good to come "home" to power and water and satellite TV.
