We are planning a trip to Memphis and need recommendations on rv Parks and any other RV Parks. We love CORPS parks and state parks, but just have a couple days to see Graceland and a couple other things. Advice on that would be great too. Thanks

We stayed at the Graceland RV park as well. As others have mentioned felt perfectly safe in the park and Graceland area, but the rest of the area is pretty sketchy.
Take the free shuttle from the Heartbreak Hotel to Sun Records and do the tour, you can then take the shuttle on to Beal Street and do the Stax, Gibson, Peabody etc.. We also did a Mississippi river cruise that really went no where??!! But the announcer/historian was very knowledgable and quite funny.
If you're a baseball fan go and see a Redbirds game. They are the AAA affiliate of the Cardinals and it is great ball with guys trying their hardest to make the Bigs. Cheap tickets and nice downtown Ball Park location.
Forgot to mention we had great food at BB Kings on Beale Street and if your a fried chicken lover ya gotta go to Gus's world Famous chicken down by the river. We did take the Pink caddy from the campground to Marlowe's....

Also known as the Stax Museum. It's really well done and just great.

The National Civil Rights Museum is very good. At the very least, drive by it to look at the outside of the Lorraine Motel. You'll recognize it from the photo of the guys standing on the balcony pointing when MLK was assassinated.

We always use Tom Sawyer when we are in the area. Quick trip across the bridge to Memphis. Pretty neat watching the tugs work up and down the river.

Just left Tom Sawyer this morning. No flooding. Lots of barge traffic!

I have to way in for the Graceland RV park. We were traveling from VA to Oklahoma and had planned a two night stay in Memphis to see Graceland. I have to say I was really concerned when we saw the area but the RV park was very nice. It is fenced all around the property and there is a guard at the gate so you can only enter if you are staying at the campground. We actually stayed for one week. The day we arrived when went out to get grocery and truck broke down. We had to be towed to Ford dealer ship. We rented a car and saw more of Memphis than we planned. We had a great time. Highlights were Graceland (I'm a big Elvis fan), Marlowe's Ribs (pink limo will pick you up free at the campground and bring you back), and Mud Island River Park. By the way, the campground was super busy but they were wonderful to work with us. We weren't sure when our truck would be ready and we just had to let the campground office know every morning if we were staying another day. Great people.

Seven Points Campground on J Percy Priest Lake

A bit outside of town on the east side but fairly easy access, not too far off I-40. Fuller was nice but this one was amazing. If you have the National Parks Senior Pass (or whatever they call it now) it's half price, we paid $10/night with water and electric. Can't beat it.

Right at the top of Tom Sawyers CG website there is a banner for any flood alert under the tab "River Stage & Flood Alert".

I was there right after one of their big flood that covered 4 rows of CG sites. I watched them go into action and it was amazing how quick it was all cleaned up and they were ready for business again!

We stayed at Graceland rv park. Perfect to see Graceland neighborhood is sketchy. We drove from Nashville to Graceland got their in the late afternoon went down to Beale st thought it was a dump especially after just spending time in Nashvilles downtown. Next day went to Graceland then some bbq and got out of there. We were suppose to spend 4 nights and stayed 2. Here is the only pic I have of the park. That is Heartbreak Hotel in background.

We have had a lot of rain recently, so my suggestion would be to call first if you are thinking about staying at Tom Sawyer. It floods when the river is high.

That was THE best CG I have ever stayed at.

DO use THEIR directions though. Do NOT use your GPS I used my GPS and it took me thru West Memphis and I can't even repeat what that area was like and/or what happened to me and the MH.

BTW: West Memphis is a place to steer way clear of and sadly so is most of Memphis.:(

EZ is $45 for full hookup with cable and Wifi in my world that is not overpriced

Highly recommend T.O. Fuller State Park, on the west side of town, easy 6 mile/10-15 minute drive to Graceland. Nice wooded sites, $20/night with water and electric plus a 25% senior discount if you're over 62. Graceland was very interesting even though we aren't super big Elvis fans, spent the whole day going though all of the different areas. Other must sees not in any particular order and depending on your interests: Sun Records Studio, Stax Museum of American Soul Music, Gibson Guitar Factory tour (pick a time earlier in the day so they are in production), just walking up and down Beale St. and checking out the live music in all of the bars. We had the best BBQ at the Blues City Cafe on the corner of Beale and 2nd, liked it better than the Rendezvous. The Civil Rights Museum at the Lorraine Motel (where MLK was shot) is a real piece of history - we didn't have time to do the whole museum but they have free audio/video kiosks in the courtyard that give you the whole story. Also agree on the ducks at the Peabody and the Bass Pro Pyramid, both something you don't see every day. We spent 3 full days and loved it. Headed over to Nashville afterwards since we were in the neighborhood (well, 3 hours or so) and had a great 3-4 days there too, I can give you some highlights if you're interested. Have fun!

Graceland is in a rough neighborhood and I'd never recommend camping there. Plan your visit early in the day and get out before dark. Hernando Point is great if u don't mind the drive. We stay there several times each year. I've never been to Tom Sawyer but hear it's nice. EZ Daze and Yogi Bear Rv parks are just overpriced parking lots.
