Minong and Hayward area?

Any recommendations for this area? Don't need full hookup, just water and electric, or electric only is fine too. When I was a kid we used to go to Derosier lake resort, which is no longer there, but want to show my kids the things I saw when I was their age.
  • back then, lost lake had a place for about 12 rv,s. and you and I have walked in each offers foot prints ,been to all those places. bet it don,t look the same, they have a wal mart in hayward now, the town moved out around it.
  • It will be next year, probably July and only a short couple days. Going to show the wife and kids where I used to go for vacations. There used to be 7 cabin at the resort along with a bath house, two fish cleaning huts and a boat house. The main house up on the hill we used to shoot from, and from the latest google maps, all of those are gone, and the main house appears to be nothing more than a foundation. Then take them to Chippewa flowage, or is it cranberry flowage, and they can see the dam there. I might schedule it around the time the Lumber jack things are happening in Hayward. See if Lync brothers is still the same and the Longbranch saloon in Minong. We used to have 11 acres on Little Gilmore too. Will be interesting to see how much it has all changed in 38 years.
  • used to stay at teel lake 30yrs back close to hayward when it was just a small town. hospital had four beds. now it has a wal mart and hotels. your best bet is the chamber they,d have a list ,I,d call ahead. p.s theres a german staek house out of town aways , chipawa steakhouse I think spelling could be of some . good food but take your check book .
  • Not sure when you plan to be in the Hayward area, it might be hard to find a cg now. I would suggest you check with the Minong & Hayward Chambers of Commerce for a list of cg's in the area. Also check rvparkreviews. Your length of stay is going to depend on what you like to do.

This area is primarily a boating, fishing and mountain biking area, with people staying in resort cabins or their own summer cabins. There are only a few museums, limited shopping and restaurants, plus a medium casino. So for me, this is a drive thru on my way to Lake Superior, the UP of Michigan, etc.
