What kind of jeep do you have? How modified is it? Trail recommendations will depend on your jeep, your confidence, and your stamina.

The only public park with electric that I can remember is Dead Horse Point State Park. difficult to get reservations though they have a site or two for walk ins and sometimes have cancellations (that is how we stayed there). With the private parks, they all looked pretty much the same. Check Passport America as some offer 1/2 price camping through PPA. If all sites are pretty equal, may as well pay less...

It is a beautiful place. 6-8 days will only leave you wanting more but that is a good thing, right? :)

We stayed at Portal for 1 night before we could get into Devil's Garden, just on the northern edge of town om the main drag. Plenty of hotels and such if they don't have rentals on site, I didn't ask. Seems well rated by those who like commercial campgrounds. Had full hookups.

be sure to see Mesa Arch in the canyonlands. also if going south, catch the goosenecks. I stayed at a KOA on the south side of town, don't know about rentals however.

I have stayed at Portal it is nice ,I have stayed at OK rv park not so nice they stuck us next to a dump of a mobile home. That amount of time is probably Ok, take some time and see Canyon lands also if you want a nice drive go up 128 along the Colorado river

if you don't make reservations soon they are going to be hard to come by.

Arches NP is worth at least 2 or 3 days IMO. Others will know more about the Jeep trails around there.

June can be hot! If you become weary of heat, take a drive into Mani-LaSal NF.

A day trip into Colorado Nat'l Monument is a possibility, too.

It's been a while, but I think Portal is the place I camped at, too. It sits back from the highway enough so there isn't much noise. If you take your bikes, you can easily ride from this CG into town and along the numerous paved paths. There are bike riders all over the place, so drive attentively.

We have vacationed in the Grand Junction, Moab, Cortez area probably 7 of the past 13 years and are planning another trip this spring. Great hiking, biking, riding and exploring. A week will only give you a taste! Enjoy!

We stayed at Portal RV Park and liked it. We bought a book while there that had details on tons of off road rides. I suggest you buy the book and find those that interest you. You know the capabilities of your Jeep, yourself and your passengers. You could spend days or weeks in the area.

Depending on what is going on in town that week you may already find it difficult to make reservations for multiple vehicles at the same park. Moab has been getting really crowded lately. I'd go to the we at sites like DiscoverMoab to look up campgrounds and start calling. They have lists of pretty much all the campgrounds and show whether they have cabins or not. Keep in mind that it tends to start getting rather warm in Moab in June so you'll want elec for sure if possible. It does tend to cool off a great deal at night but I think you'll find using Air Conditioning desirable.

Being as how you're willing to drag you jeep down there I'm assuming you rather enjoy the hard core 4 wheeling thing. You can easily spend a month or more exploring down there and not get bored. I've spent months exploring and destroying trucks down there over the years and still really look forward to when I can make it. I now use a side by side atv though as it's less prone to needing expensive repairs after my adventures. You'll find a lot of info on the web listing trails, and rating them as to difficulty. My recommendation is start out on the easier ones for the first day or so and work up till you reach the limit of your rig and driving skill.

Can't help you with specific recommendations on CG's as we don't use hookups, but if you do a search here (the box above), you'll find well over 150 posts in the last year. This is one of the most requested places for advice on this forum.

Do remember in June it has the possibility of being pretty hot. Make sure you (and your jeep) are both ready for 100+ degree days. There's so much to do around Moab. We spend three to four weeks a year here and still have things on our list we haven't done. Lots of great hiking in Arches, rafting, biking, etc.
