We are headed north in a couple of weeks, already have reservations at Grand Teton, Yellowstone and then Glacier from the middle of August thru Labor Day. After that we have about 10 days open. Looking for must do and must see options.
We enjoy watching wildlife, moderate hiking, scenic jeep trails and exploring ghost towns, but are open for other ideas while we are there also.
Not sure what order this will fall into your trip but a few things that we have always enjoyed when heading up to that area. โ Dinosaur NM, this never gets old and the Green River is beautiful as it runs through it โ Then we always try to catch Flaming Gorge NRA, IMHO is just like a NP and has a lot to offer, we usually head up on the West side and stay in the Marina CG โ Another favorite is Wind River Valley Neat little CG right on the River and because the River runs North it almost feels like it runs up hill Beautiful drive and Thermopolis has some great hot springs. Cody and Buffalo Bill's Museum โ Red Lodge โ Beartooth .
Up around Glacier, Canada is great โ Flathead Lake โ Fly fishing โ a night and Dinner at one of the Lodges (Prince of Wales would be my choice but all are great) if possible just take a day to sit back relax and Breathe (might have a beverage of choice) When in the right spot this might be some of the best air on Earth, love to just take IT in.
Look over this thread on Idaho --
IdahoAs has been suggested the San Juanโs and the SouthWest of Colorado, with your rig you will find some of the best 4X4 trail anywhere. Having traveled all over this country this is an area that never disappoints, just so Wild and so Accessible, never have had a bad day.
Well I think I filled your 10 days (might want to add a couple more weeks and really enjoy it โ no hurry to get back with that beautiful rig to San Diego) โ one last note look over Stan Parker's photo album for more info on areas you might visit --
