Monthly camp question

Checked into campground for a month only to find out that even though I checked in on the 10th the month ended on the 30th.

Spent whole working life in the hotel business and a monthly rate was from the day our guest checked in until that same day the next month. Or first days were prorated until the end of the month.

This is the first time I have ever got a monthly rate - is this common billing in campground

Please no explaining I am ahead of the daily rate - I get that part.
  • I stayed at one park for four months and another for three years. At both parks they prorated me through the end of the month, then I was charged the next month in whole due on the first.

You got hosed. File a complaint with the BBB or no one else will ever know. If they have a web page, Facebook or some other social media, post a complaint about it. Don't have to get rude and nasty just state what happened, the rest will fall into place
  • If you got charged the full monthly rate for only 20 days, you definitely got hosed. However, I have seen places that liked to keep their billing simple so they would make a common date for monthly rentals. They did prorate if you came in after the first day of the billing period.
  • CG monthly billing was set up to be monthly on 1st thru 30th of month.

You paid prorated rate based on the monthly rate....correct?

Many one owned CG's charge monthly based on 30 days from when you check in

Many corporate owned CG's charge monthly based on 1st thru 30th of month and prorate.
Heck some CG's even have you do background checks/credit reports IF going monthly

Just depends on which monthly system they use.....nothing involving CG's is 'standard'

If I stay a month all I am concerned with is IF I get the monthly rate.....straight up or prorated.

Both our summer and winter seasonal campgrounds charge a monthly rate for consecutive 30 days from date of arrival.
