We paid a monthly rate about $450
Our one complaint is that when we wished to extend our stay a few days, Lake End Park reverted to daily or weekly rates even when the site was available. They did not have a prorate schedule to extend visits. We left rather than revert to the daily rate. Theirs as well as our loss.
No offense taken by your intimation about private camp owners fees. Publicly owned camps get it wrong too!

Well now I'll grant you Morgan City isn't a destination city and Lake End park isn't a destination park. But is it really that bad?

Morgan City has a hospital, doctors, a Rouses Supermarket and liquor stores, a Texas BBQ joint and a couple of Cajun cafes. Aside from that there's not a whole lot to do.

The CG has the usual amenities including a laundry room and extensive walking paths. There are no pools or activities; it's a CG, not a "resort" and you're not paying "resort" prices.

Going to visit family but sure don't want to go in the summer. Maybe spend a month or two. Has to be warmer than NH. The judge will deter theft.

One of my family's ancestral plantations is in nearby Charenton. You're going to Morgan City? On purpose? Don't wanna. Ain't gonna. Can't make me.

If you're working in Morgan City, my advice is to commute from Franklin.

No offense intended. Sarcasm is my strong suit.

We stayed at Lake End park a couple of years ago and wouldn't hesitate to return for a month or more. $450/mo isn't a bad price at all for a decent FHU CG that certainly isn't a dump. BTW, the cooler thieves were coming in boats, not through the front drive. I'm surprised they didn't meet Messers. Smith and Wesson or Mr. Remington.

The north wind off the lake can get mighty brisk.

Otherwise we'd likely go up toward Lafayette / New Iberia / Eunice etc but some of the CGs there are rather high-priced.

Monthly rates during the winter works out to 15/night and weekly rates to 20/night. I would consider that very reasonable, especially for what is considered a "destination" area. There are also many of us that don't use cable or pools. We haven't used either of them while staying in over 500 campgrounds the last ten years.

My question is why would you want to? There are many nicer parts of Louisiana, even nicer places that are near the coast to get the relatively warm gulf water effect in the winter. If I were looking for such a place I would try about 50 miles NW of Morgan city on the north side of Vermillion bay around New Iberia, it is a much less industrial area, much more cajun cultural, lots of good places to eat, etc. Someone on one of the RV sites just suggested this place a few days ago http://www.bettysrvpark.com/ I plan to check it out sometime as it is only about 100 miles from here.

Also if you cross the bridge into Patterson there is a campground on the right that has several long term sites available; there have been reports of thefts for the last few months at Lake End campground, don't leeave anything of value out at night especially yeti ice chest

Lake end Park is a city owned camp, on Lake Palourde. Sites are nice, lake and fishing access. Price seemed fair to us. We had a spot on the peninsula north of the boat basin.
The park is open to longer term stays thru the winter months. It is site specific on reservations, so the nicest sites on the canal are likely picked over.
Best to call .
They do have a secondary camp built after Hurricane Katrina by FEMA around on the north shore a 1/2 mile or so away from the main park. You could always get a site there.
Morgan City is on our best places list.

There is a park with RV service at the end of the lake next to Morgan City. About a mile from the hospital. Don't know specifics. Lake End park is name. They seem to be trying to price themselves out of business.
