Mt. Washington

Heading to Mt. Washington area in a couple days, any suggestions on a favorite campground with full hookups would be great. Thanks
  • Last year we stayed at The Bluffs, an over-50 cg. Very nice but we didn't use half the amenities they had.
  • We have a Mount Washington too. it smack in the middle of nowhere.
  • We stayed at Saco River Campground in North Conway - full hookups & a short drive to Mt. Washington. It was OK. I reserved a site on the river.....bad choice. When it rained it was disgustingly muddy. As I recall there were some nice looking sites on the grass back from the river. North Conway traffic is horrid but once you are down im the campground it is quite pleasant. Safe travels.
  • We will be at Tally-Ho Campground at Twin Mountain in mid July. Taking the grandson on the Cog Railway.
  • My trips to Mt Washington were all winter ice climbing trips, where we slept along the trail. After a vertical ice climb up Tuckermans Ravine we'd cross the summit and go down the easy side. Some years just trying to stand up on top, with 120 MPH winds, was harder than the climb up. Here's what the summit weather station looks like mid winter

  • Beech Hill campground in twin mountain has good full hookup sites, sites are good sizes too.
  • I forgot there were people like you on here Jim and should have spelled it out. Mt. Washington NH is what I should have said.
Thanks KCharles for the info, like me you understood what was asked and would answer with a knowledgeable answer.
  • Mount Washington is a real mountain.
We use to stay in Franconia Notch or North Conway but I don't remember the names. Franconia Notch was good for tents and pop ups but as I remember not so good for big rigs.

Just remembered, I think, Saco River RV park in north conway.
  • Probably help if you're talking about a real mountain, or a neighborhood in almost any city or a city in almost any state. Lots of things are named after our nation's first President.
