NC/SC Beach camping

Besides Myrtle Beach State Park and Huntington Beach State Park can anyone recommend a park like setting (as opposed to parking lot) that is near the ocean?
  • There's also the Outer Banks. Many private campgrounds plus, 4 National Park Campgrounds.

I like those SC setups as your trailer is up in the woods with good tree cover and yet you can see and smell the beach and not get run over by all of the beach traffic that goes on 24/7...

The last time we was at Edisto however we got over run by those real small mosquitoes. Normally the incoming ocean breeze takes care of those for you but not this time haha. I don't think they even slowed down coming through the window screens... Ate us up big time...

We still enjoyed it all however...

x2 on the mosquitoes. At Hunting Island we were swarmed by them. Until we walked over to the beach itself. For some reason it was like someone installed a wall at the edge of the woods. In the woods: swarms; on the beach: not a single mosquito.

  • Edisto Beach and Hunting Island State parks south of Charleston are also very nice.

If you go to Edisto Beach, make sure you grab a meal at the Sea Cow.
