Need advice on Fla. this winter

The West is a lot larger than Florida also snowbirds are down for the duration not a cruise by of Yellowstone or any of the other NP's. Most find a spot that they're comfortable with and return year after year. We're returning to a spot we spent 2 winters at and making it a third and have been booked in since last year.

Southern FL will be basically booked. Most more popular campgrounds were probably reserved before the snowbirds left last year. You would have better luck in the center of the state near Ocala. Good Luck!

Call some of the places in the Florida Keys.

One that I like is Key Largo Kampground on Key Largo.
They have some nice pull through sites.
They also have two small private sandy beaches along with a beautiful large swimming pool

Go on line a pick a few and then just give them a call

Look at the center of the state even south of Ocala there are plenty of sites available.

Assuming you are going to tour Fla then reservations are not necessary. Probably too late for long term as many of the more popular places are booked but there is always several days between the long term rentals. Being willing to move to a different site within the RV park will help if you want to stay longer. It's a big state with many CGs that do not advertise so use Google for campgrounds in various cities. On the north side of Orlando you can get reservations at Stage Stop CG in Winter Garden... even some drone pictures under slide show. Not fancy...$200/week but close enough to even do Disney in the car.
*Other than using this CG when in Orlando I have no financial reason of incentive to recommend it.

This is one of the negative results of <$2 gas and diesel.

loneryder, Some years ago, my wife and I spent a month at Fort Myers RV Park off US 41 just north of Estero, and explored from there. It's part of the Wilder Group of RV parks. Called a resort, it's just a park -- a bit short on in-park activities but great for exploring the area. Within a very short time, we were on the path that eventually had us settling in Imperial Bonita Estates IBE has about 85 different in-park activities and many RVers end up buying units in the co-op.

Several times, I have posted a list of the parks in this area. The prices vary quite a bit, but that is a matter of personal choice. I also have advice on some parks to be avoided. You can do a search for my list on this site, or send me an IM and I will respond via email.

A final note: Locations above SR 80 or Lake Okeechobee will not be as warm as SW Florida, and the cheaper inland parks will cost you in time and mile$ if you want to enjoy more of what Florida has to offer.

Try Clerbrook Golf and RV Resort in Clermont; it's huge! But watch out for alligators if you are playing AND especially don't try to retrieve a ball in the water!

Sites might be a little more available this winter as it appears a lot of Canadians won't be going South due to our low $. Exchange rate is hovering around 33 cents on the dollar, so it adds up quickly over the course of the winter.

I believe Deer Creek in Davenportclick has monthly lots for rent and it's quite a nice rv resort which is now member owned, we stayed there our first winter and as it was basically in the center of Florida it gave us the range to check out other resorts.
