We will b heading south from Kansas City area to Vicksburg, Natchez, Baton Rouge and New Orleans before turning east along the gulf to Mobile and Gulf Shores in early October. This is new territory for us. we would appreciate suggestions for RV parks, ( we at least want elec. but prefer full hook-ups.) we are thinking about doing a Gray Line type tour of downtown New Orleans. Will take in the Confederate war sites in Vicksburg and Natchez and I definitely want to visit several of the old plantation homes in the area. Any and all recommendations for places to stay, sites to see or tours to take will be sincerely appreciated for this trip.

the first week of October is Cruisin the Coast car show along the coast of Mississippi from Bay St Louise to Ocean Springs. It is the whole week and there is something going on in every town every day with 8,ooo-9,000 old cars and hot rods. It is a great time if yo like old cars and good music but you need to reserve a campground early because they fill up early.

For Natchez, we like River View RV Park in Vidalia LA across the river from Natchez. The only decent park in Vicksburg is Ameristar.
For New Orleans we liked Bayou Segnette State Park off US 90. If you go there, approach from the west via I-310 then east on US90. Water and electric and dump station. Reasonable price. You can take a ferry from Algiers into New Orleans. Ponchartrain Landing is another choice for New Orleans. They do have a shuttle into New Orleans (not free).

Natchez State Park is nice we were there last month. Also check out the Natchez trace and the Windsor ruins.

Take a tour of Rosemont in Natchez.

On 61 just south of Natchez a few miles is Mammy's Cupboard a small restaurant built in 1939 and looks like Aunt Jemima.

Also on 61 south is a great restaurant call Roux61 great food but a little pricey.

The riverfront in Natchez is also interesting.

Can't help with New Orleans we avoid it like the plague!

Davis Bayou campground in Ocean Springs is very nice and close to Casinos in Biloxi.

Bellingrath Gardens close to Mobile is a beautiful place to visit.

We just took the Grey line your of NOLA. Wouldn't recommend it. Look around there a better tours. They take a big bus through town and you cannot see any of the sights. Basically drive you out to a gift shop for a bathroom break then back to starting point.
