New cabins at Skidaway Island St. Park, GA

I just submitted a review of our recent stay at Skidaway Island on rvparkreviews and I was going to submit a separate review regarding the new camping cabins since we put my in-laws up in one over Thanksgiving weekend. I did not realize that you are locked out for 90 days for the same park, so I figured somebody might find the info interesting here.

The cabins are very nice, they have pictures online. Cabin A has a bedroom and a loft area with a double and single up there. They is only about three foot clearance in loft, so tight for adults. Even making beds was difficult. Has full size range and fridge, microwave. Good bathroom w/stall shower. Air conditioner/heat (which I can attest works) my in-laws had the place like an oven! One nice thing was a small flatscreen which I wasn't expecting.

If you don't have an RV, it's a good way to stay in one of my favorite places, but (here's the bad news) it does not come equipped with ANYTHING. Not a spoon, cup nada for $125. A night. It is the very first year they are avail. But We have rented other cabins at times and they had minimum equipment and linen service extra. Maybe it will evolve over time. We won't be doing it again, but then that decision really doesn't have anything to do with the price!!

Happy New Year all!

  • Thanks for the HT. You can also post a review at TripAdvisor.com. Many here are finding rvparkreviews less than adequate for researching cgs.

Most of the cabins in GA State Parks do have dishes, pots and pans and eating utensils provided. One of two possibilities comes to mind: the previous occupant stole the stash or the cabins are so new they haven't been supplied yet. Either way I'd let the GA State Parks folks know.

When you stay at one of their parks they usually will send you a follow-up email for you to evaluate your stay; did you give them your email address?
