I have read some previous posts but did not hear much about the closest one.. Niagara Falls campground and lodging. Any opinions on this? We are heading up there to see the falls, then moving on. Will not be spending time "relaxing" at any campground.

Four Mile Creek State Park is very nice. Some sites back up to Lake Ontario. About 15 minutes to Falls.
