Boy, this could get ugly fast. Quite a few RV parks in the Boise area, are full, and have been for 3 years or longer with full time residents. I asked on owner why, and was told that for 2 years they have been full because of the local economy. Look at their side, a monthly fee, every month, all year long. They must keep their lot clean and orderly, or they are required to vacate the area. I can see their side of it, a more or less steady income, all year long, instead of the hit or miss of the seasonal travels.
I'm in an RV park in Georgetown, Texas this morning and for the next 29 days. The park is almost full. I'd say 95% occupied. I can look around and tell you that most of these people are old and poor and (not that it matters) white. I rarely see anybody under 50 in these parks. And most of them have set up their home here with porches and patio furniture out. They're not going anywhere. The "stay at home" gestapo (the SAHG) don't care about these people, but they should. They matter just as much as the people who may get COVID-19 and the 1% of those who may die.
I'm not poor, but I'm one of those people who have given up finding a job. The younger people hiring for IT jobs don't want to hire 63 year old programmers. They don't want to violate federal hiring laws, they just naturally do so. And now unemployment has shot through the roof thanks to the fearful SAHG. How many people will turn to alcohol or drugs because of this economic crisis and die? How many otherwise good lives will be destroyed because the SAHG are afraid? The Greatest Generation would be appalled.
