No Overnight Parking in one Rapid City, SD, Walmart

I went to the Rapid City, SD, Walmart at 100 Stumer Road last night to pick up some groceries for the road and noted the following sign upon entry: "No Camping or Overnight Parking". Just an FYI for planning purposes. There is also a 2nd Walmart in Rapid City at 1200 N. Lacrosse St. I do not know what their overnight parking policy is but I will be watching out for any signs posted if I happen to pass that way. The Cabela's, at 3231 E. Mall Drive, remains overnight RV-friendly according to a Van-Lifer I spoke to 2 days ago who had overnighted there the night before.

Our WM also posted new parking lot signs about overnight parking, restricting them now.

It's because the parking lot was becoming a 'homeless row' of rigs and cars where folks are obviously living out of and it was a mess...

They now park on the out skirts of the property where there are no signs posted yet... But, it'll only be a matter of time.

Sad for sure, as no one should have to live that way, but then they do abuse it by trashing the hell out of where they park so what is a property owner to do?

Not according to municipal code 17.50.225 Temporary overnight recreational vehicle parking. Overnight RV parking is allowed if the location is zoned correctly (all walmarts are in approved zoning in RC SD). Due to issues over rule breaking, Walmart's have been placing their own restrictions up to and including temporary no overnight parking camping policies when they think it's best for the store. It's probably easier for the store to say "municipal ordinance" instead of fessing up it's their own decision.
