Non-state park in Wisconsin

Trying to find a quiet CG that won't be full of kids and/or people having parties within an hour or so of Milwaukee for 4 July weekend.
  • Bailey's Grove in Bailey's Harbor Door County. Small campground but very clean and quiet.
  • This is how full-timers deal with the 3-day holidays: Find a park away from any major attraction, away from big cities, one that doesn't have a swimming pool, away from rivers and lakes and you'll find a quiet one. We leave the busy parks for those still working and this is their main fun time.

Good Luck! You could try searching 55yr old only rv resorts in the area.

There IS one hidden jewel of a CG that is west of the I less than an hour from Milwaukee that is REAL nice.

-- The conspicuous use of intoxicants while visiting MLA is strictly prohibited and will not be tolerated. --

The owners recently donated the land to Fellow Mortals a wildlife sanctuary and they have education seminars on the property.

-- Beginning in 2011, Fellow Mortals Wildlife Hospital has been conducting a series of events for the newly established Meadowlark Acres Nature and Education Center. --

It is a family oriented CG BUT it is run so that EVERYONE can enjoy their CG. The owners are active participants in running the CG. They do NOT tolerate anyone not following the CG rules and everyone enjoys their stay.

I stayed there for a couple of weeks last year and it is the ONLY CG I have stayed at that was 100% enjoyable.

  • Cliffside would be my recommendation too. Its a county park, but its the only campground that's close that's not full of kids. But for a weekend near the 4th? Good luck.
  • Most campgrounds are packed and noisy that weekend. Your best bet would be finding someplace where you have to backpack in.

Good luck. My experience is that ALL CGs are full on that particular weekend especially with families.

Boondocking might give you more of a choice.
