Hello everyone. I need suggestions... Does anyone know of a good place to stop on the way down to Orlando. We are here in NY and will be stopping in Norfolk, VA to pick up our daughter then continue on to Orlando. We are planning on traveling Feb 11 and don't have reservation in Orlando until the 14th. I was thinking we could swing by Myrtle Beach, SC but it doesn't look like much is going on there in February. Any suggestions are appreciated.

I would certainly stop in Charleston, SC for a day or two. You can spend a day visiting Savannah and Jekyll Island, GA. You can easily spend a day in St. Augustine, FL.

In Coastal Georgia, mid-February is historically, at least the last 10 years anyway, the coldest part of the winter. Overnight temps can get down to the low 20s, with daytime highs only in the 40s. It is unusual for temps not to get above 40, but it can happen. Last year we had a warm February, so who knows what this year will bring.

If I had a couple of days to kill, I'd stop in Charleston, SC. Beautiful area and should be moderate temperatures. James Island County Park there is really nice.

Otherwise, maybe check-out Savannah.

Even getting into Florida, Jacksonville, St. Augustine, and most of the Atlantic coast are nice- but you'll be fighting snowbird crowds.

Remember that in February, you will be dealing with some really cool (cold) temps until you get down into South Carolina and it may still be cold down to Florida. I'm not saying that Myrtle Beach will be cold, but it's a very good possibility. We have been down in the Gulf coast in February and it's been down in the 40's. That's pretty chilly for down there and the locals were wearing down coats and they had opened shelters, etc.

Here is another thread that has lots of stops down I-95.

Willow Tree RV park outside of North Myrtle Beach has about 20 sites with hot tubs.If you can snag one for a night,it's great. Also Huntington Beach State Park south of MB is nice. Campground is right off the beach. Most are water and electric, but they have some full hook ups.

New Green Acres RV Park just outside Walterboro, SC is a pretty good way station for that area. Oak Plantation Campground is a good one near Charleston if you would prefer more to do.
