Opinion on Resort Fees ?

It is an easy way to raise the rates without actually showing that they raised the rates. How many RV parks could realistically be called a resort? How many have resort like features, pool, hot tub, nice clubhouse with activities etc.? Since the resort fee is rarely, if ever, published along with their daily rates I will consider this an extremely dishonest practice.

It’s the overall price that I want. RV parks can call it whatever they like.

If they posted a daily rate without clear indication there as a mandatory “resort fee” I would consider that false and deceitful advertising. I would probably move on when I found out.

If they clearly indicate the resort fee in their pricing then it is just a matter of whether I thought it was worth the total or not.

But it has been a very rare time I have stayed at an RV “resort”.

It is done so that a lower rate is displayed on Internet searches and hope you don't notice when you make a reservation.

Resort fees are just a way to increase profits without raining a daily rate. Hotels do this, too. The RV park considers what is the best price point for daily rate and charges that, but then adds on a resort fee that actually raises the daily rate. Example, the daily rate is $36.95. Maybe you find that rate acceptable and consider staying there. But in the small type is the $5 daily resort fee, which makes the rate actually $41.95. You may say the daily rate of $41.95 is too much and move on!

I thought the Marriott Hotel chain just got fined for doing this.

The advertised a rate then added "resort fees" on checkout - I believe they
have been ordered to reimburse their customers for the "resort fee".

How's this any different?

I always call to get the total for the length of stay so I won't be surprised by extra fees. The great thing is we can choose to stay or not stay if the prices are unreasonable.

Remember "RV Resort" is the most verbally abused word in the RV park industry. What does it include and does everything work???????

No different than Sirius radio advertising a cheap rate then adding mandatory fees. One reason I’ll not do business with them.
