Going up the Oregon Coast starting May 21 in Brookings and looking for comments on the following;

Beachfront RV Park - Brookings

Oceanside RV Park - Charleston

Winchester Bay RV Resort

Port of Newport RV Park

Harborview RV Park - Garibaldi

We'll be out to almost the end of August this trip and will have more places to look at as we continue into Washington and then East into Idaho and maybe Montana.

Thanks in advance.

If your travel stops include Coos Bay, we like the Oceanside RV Park on Cape Arago Hwy. It is out of town a few miles, a almost private beach (not beach view), the park was clean, has wifi, etc. JH

Oceanside RV Park is pretty awesome. Well kept, level sites, great ammenties and close by the things we like. One of the entrances to the beach is only a few steps from our site.

Fantastic beach.

Had a visitor to our beach this afternoon.

Chicken on the grill this noon for lunch and fresh Dungeness crab from Fishermen's Wharf, just down the road, tonight. Last night we had fresh salmon on the grill from them and was delicious.

Recommend big time.

Once you head inland, make sure to update! As you get near Idaho, you'll pass us, going through Spokane, WA.

I'll actually be doing something similar, in opposite order, in the near future. We'll do an Oregon coast trip, starting north and heading to central Oregon!

The only issue with the back ins is the way the sun travels across the sky. Those sites don't get very much sun till later in the day. If it happens to rain before you get there then the spots will be wet for days. Thats why we go with the pull thru's as they run north and south mostly and as the sun travels across the sky they get sun sooner and for a longer time. They tend to dry out sooner after rain. We have stayed in the spots your talking about and it's a******shoot for a dry one or a wet one. I don't want to sound negative because it's a beautifull park and you may get a nice stretch of weather. We love going there in Sept as the crowds are gone, the weather is great and the park has had time to dry out over the summer. IMO I would take my chances and stay at Bev Beach as it's nicer than South Beach.

Yes the weather will be what it is but that's OK.

The main reason we chose the back in on the perimeter was view...our rig has the large rear window. Not sure what we will be looking at (no other sites behind us) but know what it would be if we were in the kind of pull throughs (half moon inner site) at Bev and that would probably mostly of another rig.

Again thanks for the info and we will be looking at more State parks as we go.

Wanted to make a reservation today as not many sites we liked we're left for our time frame.

Took a back in just across from the pull throughs in the G section at Beverly for 4 nights.

Thanks for the suggestions.

We can reserve at either Park, but soon like today probably, and there is 1 pull through in G available at Beverly. There is a back in near on the perimeter which looks nice also.

Question; is not having that much sun a real issue? Temps I would guess should be OK.

Thanks.

Beverly Beach will be wetter on the ground than South Beach. More trees, and unless you get one of the pull thru's in the G section most will be shady all day. The beach is closer at Bev beach but neither is anything to write home about. Just long stretches of sand. Cannon Beach is a lot prettier. Cannon Beach RV park is nesttled in a residential neighorhood. You can't walk to the beach. Too far.

State parks by Newport are South Beach & Beverly Beach. Beverly offers easier access to the beach. South Beach involves walking 1/3-1/2 mile to the beach on a trail. They are both good, but we prefer Beverly.

Looking at both of those...thanks.

Lauren, what we are looking for on this leg is ocean, ocean and more ocean.

Once we get up to Washington we'll head inland and to Yellowstone before heading back to Reno in mid to late August.

Great pics on your site btw...thanks.

Not sure what you are looking for - FHU or not, amenities, etc.

We have not been south of Winchester Bay on the last three trips so can't offer anything current there. Winchester Bay one of our all time favorites and, yes, Newport is pretty much a parking lot - but nice parking lot. Have beautiful photos from the park at the bridge in the sunset.

We love Cannon Beach RV Park when you get up there; one of our favorites as well. But you best book soon; not sure they will have availability.

Cannon Beach to Winchester Bay is one of our all time favorite areas. If you want, see www.LaurenBarbara.com and check the Wanderings link and OR for pix.

Email or PM me if you would like.

Be safe - enjoy.

Glad we booked what we did as sites are filling up but we scored some good ocean view sites. Updated our itinerary in our Trip Journal.

Review all Oregon state parks in the areas you are visiting. Among the best in the United States so you should definitely choose from them first and then fill in with other alternatives.
