I have been finally successful in getting DW to a slightly longer trip, in which we visited Bryce Canyon and Zion NP's.
First was Bryce. ON the way up I15, I stopped for directions twice and finally got a decent answer. Proceed to exit 95, take S20 through Panguitch to Bryce. Elevation was just over 7000 ft, as opposed to the other routes being 8000 and 10,000 ft in addition to having no guard rails and there are narrow switchbacks.
I discovered the switchbacks on the East approach to Zion with sattellite images and I was worried. With inquiries I found that, among other things, there is a $15.00 charge for me with an RV plus a toad. They escort vehicles one-way so they can run center of the road. The height of the tunnel (1930's construction) is only 13 ft. In addition there are some hairy switchbacks. So I elected to go back by way of the I15.
We stayed at Ruby's Inn and RV campground. No cable and I had trouble getting the correct satellite so I gave up and watched DVD's. There is no jacuzzi yet they provide a card to use the jacuzzi in the Best Western which is part of Ruby's and its next to the indoor pool.
In Zion we used the Zion Campground in Springdale and its nice. The newer Shower building is better and cleaner than the older one. Cable was provided. No jacuzzi but a small pool.
Stopped overnight each way at Las Vegas at the Hitchin' Post in North Las Vegas. Large pool but no jacuzzi. Noise includes both railroad and fighter jets from Nellis AFB, neither of which bother us but might bother you.
Within walking distance is a great little cafe, Taqueria Del Paisano. Terrrific mexican food at reasonable prices. (202)473-5020. Mexican food is my second favorite, after Italian.
Filled up diesel at a place called Coyote Corner, located at Nellis and E. Lake Mead blvd. I believe I got bad diesel there, resulting in a check engine light. I now have to get that checked out.
It was one terrific trip, the longest yet for DW. Now I have to work on doing a Jellystone NP trip to visit with Jogi Bear.
