Thanks to all, Hubby can't stand to be packed in like sardines, lol. So, snagged a cancellation at Henderson Beach. We know and love the Gulf, so should be fun, and we got a great site. LOL, all sites are great at Henderson. Will keep the Outer Banks on my to do list.

Thanks all, for the time we want to go, the prices are very similar. They both look good, with the KOA membership, the price is a little bit lower. Can't decide, may have to let the Son choose. All he really cares about is Wi-Fi! HaHa!

We had a group of 12 stay at the KOA last JUne, and it was great.

Had plenty for the kids in the group to do, with brand new pool facilities and clubhouse.

The office is new, and has many amenities including rentable apartments.

The bath houses were always clean (which is hard to do at a beach).

We walked through CH while walking the beach, and it is nice also.

You can't go wrong either way.

We stay only at CH, but I will admit that the new clubhouse/office at KOA is danged impressive. I'd like to walk through it to see if it is as impressive from the inside as it is outside. It wouldn't cause me to switch my loyalties, but this is one aspect that I think KOA has it over CH.

So, it really cost you more than that in the long run...lol

Not really...
Bought the membership years ago at very low resale cost.
The initial outlay was recouped first year.
The yearly dues are recouped quickly each year with just a few uses....then it's cheap camping after that.
Is it time for your medication or mine?

We stayed at Camp Hatteras for a week.
Nice place.....enjoyed the stay
Good base location
And only cost $10/night for the site plus $3/night for the dog so $13/night it was GREAT

$10 bucks a night! :E Man...you must have influence. Or have a good brother-in-law. LOL

Both are nice. I stay at Hatteras for the reasons mentioned above. Plus Hattaras seems to be a little "saner" then the KOA. I walked over there last year and it seemed that there were a lot more young kids and a lot more beer then at Hatteras. I am not against fun, young love, or drinking. I'm just mad that I can't do them as much anymore.

For the record, I have already made my 2014 reservations for Hatteras.

We liked them both, Camp Hatteras has paved sites and patios and KOA has more kids activities. They are beside each other so the beaches are the same.
Time to camp.

We stay at the KOA for a week plus every year. The staff goes out of their way to make it perfection. If you request a site up front, it's only steps to a beautiful beach. Lots of entertainment options there if you have kids. Even our dog has fun - nice little fenced in off leash enclosure. All hookups, wi-fi and cable work well and the bathhouse is immaculate - separate bathrooms with basin, toilet and shower. We love it there.

Another vote for Camp Hatteras for the same mentioned things! :C
