Hey Amigo. We've done the L.A. to Utah trip quite a few times. I have two suggestions:
- Tough it out and keep going until you get to Mesquite. A couple of the casinos there have dedicated spots where you can camp for free, assuming you spend a little time in the casino in the evening or grab breakfast there before you leave in the morning. I don't remember which casino we stayed at there, but shoot me a PM or an FB message if you're interested and I'll look it up.
- Sam's Town KOA in Vegas. In September we stopped there on the way home from Cedar Creek, Utah because we had a good momentum going and didn't want to stop in Mesquite for the freebie stay. I thought it was going to be a dump, but it was actually pretty decent. There were a couple of nice-ish casinos right there and we both did really well. Neither of us ever win in Vegas, but we did really well in the evening and then my wife couldn't resist ducking into the casino again the next morning before we left. She did so well that we ended up staying an extra night in the same spot. Go figure.
Enjoy the Utah trip. It should be heavenly this time of year.
