Point sebago Maine

I have the last week of June off and was thinking about going here, my only question is how bad are the black flies this time of year in this area of Maine? If the flies are too bad, can someone advise me on maybe a New Hampshire destination near lake winnapisaki.

And that's why as a Mainer I don't care about those flies anymore. I just sit in my chair and watch all those tourists break dancing around me :)
  • Two seasons in Maine, "Fly Season" and Winter Season, nothing in between. My wife is a Aroostock County Gal. We argue about this all the time....Good Luck....don't forget the repellent. ....And the Flies know the difference between "Locals and Tourist", they prefer tourist:S
  • I'm so used to them.......I don't care anymore. In worst cases, bug repellent does the trick.
But by the end of June, you should be fine.

    Welcome to Maine

  • Bugs are usually OKay by the end of June. Go for it.
  • Meredith Woods
In NH you can try Meredith Woods which has an indoor pool. Across the road is Clear Water which is on a lake. Guest at Meredith have access to Clear Water so you can enjoy the lake.
Once the Black Flies die off then the mosquito come so we just take it as part of camping and the great outdoors.
  • By the last week of June they should be less of a problem. The black flies around Lake Winnipesaukee will be just as bad as Point Sebago. The in-season is considered Mother's Day to Father's Day.
