- rbtgloveExplorerNot a boondocking place but we like Memaloose State park near the Dalles. Great views of the River and close to a lot of interesting things to see and do. There are some Forest Service Campgrounds around Mt Hood area for boondocking but most are no reservations. We also like Ainsworth St Park in the Gorge near falls, Beacon Rock (WA), Crown Point and much more.
- RedRocket204ExplorerIf you don't mind staying in a "RV park", the The Fish House Inn is a great place to stay and I highly recommend it. Only 6 RV pads available so best to make reservations depending on time of year.
When we were living on the north coast of Oregon, we traveled to Dayville in a single, non-stressful day. The Fish House Inn is very quiet and has a very nice park like setting. No camp fires but the place is so nice, you don't care.
Oh how I would like to visit that area again! - donn0128Explorer IISeveral NF campgrounds east of Prineville in the mountains. There is also a nice state park just west of JD. If you go south up the south fork of the John Day from Dayville there are a few places you can camp. Most are not big rig friendly so hope your pretty small.
