Propane near Grand Canyon Tusayan?

DW and I are at GC south rim. We will be here 6 nights, and it’s cold so a lot of furnace use. We will need more propane. We have dual 20 lb tanks and usually just exchange them. Does anyone know where the nearest reasonable priced exchange would be?

    Titan Propane

    Hope this helps,
  • I just drove by the Tusayan general store with google maps street view, and it appears there is an exchange there. I will use an exchange when I have to, but they are never reasonably priced. Of course that depends on the price, availability and hassle of getting tanks refilled.
  • Superior Propane, 600 E Frank Way, Williams, AZ 86046. Not open Sundays. Was there in July. Try Rod’s Steakhouse for dinner.
  • Exchanges can be very convenient, but do be aware that most only give you fifteen pounds rather than the twenty pounds, more or less, that a proper filling of the cylinder gives you. For extended camping in cold weather, that could mean more trips to get propane.

(It is true that propane cylinders require headspace and can only be filled about eighty percent full. A twenty pound cylinder is sized to hold twenty pounds when it's filled to that point. I mention that because there are a few sources that erroneously claim you should only fill them to sixteen pounds to leave the headspace.)
