"Crystal Basin" campgrounds (CA)

24' class C, no toad. Looking for comments from those who have stayed at the campgrounds in the Crystal Basin area, i.e., Wright's Lake, Gerle Creek, Loon Lake, Ice House, and Union Valley. Ease of access from Highway 50? Most scenic? Better separation of campsites? All are FCFS now; which of the smaller campgrounds are likely to have space (weekdays)?

TIA.

You won't have any problems with your size or finding a spot mid week since school is back in session. I like gerle Creek its quiet up there but mid week this time of year I doubt you'll have neighbors close to your site at any of the campgrounds.

Here is more info on all the campgrounds. There are pdf maps that show the sites.

Has been more than 20 years since I camped and 4x4 in the area. There use to be very nice camping around Loon Lake. Very very Scenic! There use to be dry camping / boondocking just North of Loon lake at the beginning of the Rubicon Trail. This is also one of the routes to Bucks Lake which is East of Loon Lake. The drive up from 50 is easy.
