I messaged them on facebook and got this back.
Our phones have been very busy this season, we do have 1-2 phone lines open 7am-8pm.
Keep trying or send them your phone number if you use facebook and they will call you back.
Their response doesn't make sense. If their phones are very busy, then you should get a busy signal, not an unanswered phone.
There is no reason they can't answer a phone and ask you to hold or get your info to call back later. I personally would not patron a place that won't answer the phone.
-Michael - 2gypsies1Explorer IIIThere's no reason why a business can't answer their phone. If they're so busy then hire someone to answer them. Even a volunteer would gladly do so.
- brireneExplorerMost likely they have caller id and know it's you! :B
- dodge_guyExplorer IISince we are now offering up different campgrounds, I vote for HorseThief Campground. It's just off the main hwy by RafterJ, down Needles hwy about 6 miles or so. Beautiful views!
- Us_out_WestExplorerOne thing not offered by the OP is when they are planning to be in the area.
Rafter J is very popular but there are other options. We stayed at the KOA In Rapid City last year in July and it was adequate for visiting Rushmore and more - MurphsmomExplorerIf you can't get them, we stayed at Hidden Valley RV park about 6 miles out of Deadwood. It's a bit further out from Rushmore, but nothing is very far apart there. We had a great site right on the creek with its own deck.

Yep. Friends of ours just returned from there about a week ago. This year was Stugis's 75th rally celebration. Said the Black Hills of South Dakota was like an giant ant hill with all the ants on motorcycles. :B
Plus Sturgis is finishing up!
We will be out that way next month, September, and spending two weeks at Custer SP. :) - dodge_guyExplorer IIPlus Sturgis is finishing up!
- sch911ExplorerJust stayed there last week, they are indeed alive and well. Would highly recommend them for that area. By far the best that we've seen.
- 3oaksExplorerThis time of the year and with the 50th anniversary of the annual Buffalo Round-up & Arts Festival in Custer State Park coming up in September, their phones are probably ringing off the hook. Most likely pretty well booked.
