If you're out and about doing things with family, having to be back at the park by 10pm is an unacceptable restriction for us. JMO

We think the fairgrounds is excellent for a short stay to visit family. Jordan Lake might be interesting but NC state parks have a crazy rule that the gates are locked in the early evening and you can't get in or out.

I believe that the rule reads "prohibited" not allowed. I personally would not stay there during the month of October due to a lot of increased traffic and activity. To each his own.

Jordan Lake is nice...but there are no sewer connections in the park. That may not be an issue for you, but something to keep in mind.

If you don't want anything fancy, check out 70 East Mobile & RV park in Garner. It's near the I-40 & US 70 interchange. Primarily a mobile home park with a bunch of RV sites. Click here:

Fairgrounds or Jordan Lake. We were happy with the fairgrounds.

Raleigh Oaks is the old Smithfield KOA. Parks in the area lock the gates early.
