Just a heads-up: our local weather forecast this evening is calling for below-freezing temperatures in Yellowstone and the central mountains of Idaho (Sawtooths, etc.) tonight. If anyone is there, make sure to bring in your hoses overnight. Snowing in the high elevations in the central mountains as we speak.

Temperatures are going back up to normal-summer hot within a few days.

I interrupt this thread with breaking news....

Severe Weather Warning Sawtooth Mountains

131 PM MDT Mon Jul 27 2015

An unseasonably strong Pacific trough was working through the
region today with colder temperatures expected to follow tonight
and Tuesday night. Freezing or near freezing conditions are
possible in many Mountain Valley locations tonight and again
Tuesday night in the wake of this passing storm system.
Individuals who have plants... pets or livestock that are sensitive
to freezing temperatures should take precautions to protect them
during the next two nights.

Upper Snake River Plain Severe Watches & Warnings

131 PM MDT Mon Jul 27 2015

An unseasonably strong Pacific trough was working through the
region today with colder temperatures expected to follow tonight
and Tuesday night. Overnight lows may tumble into the upper 30s
producing localized frost conditions in some outlying areas of the
Snake River Plain and Preston area. Individuals who have
plants... pets or livestock that are sensitive to frost may want to take precautions to protect them during the next two nights.

Guess that makes me a 'weatherman' ....or at least as good as the ones on TV
Is it time for your medication or mine?

Record low for yellowstone in July is 20F and record low for August is 15F. That is why I said I doubt temps in the low 30s would set any records. 35F is really common. Also snow is not uncommon in July or August.

Record lows for the date, not the entire month. This is according to our local weatherman tonight.

Couple of weeks ago it was 80 degrees and we had marble sized hail in Cody. Storms move in and out pretty fast.

We found that in summer in the Sawtooths of Idaho temps usually drop 50 degrees daily.

I've read that the Tetons can occasionally get a dusting of snow any summer month, if a cold front happens to move in. Oh well, I feel for the tenters.

I'm sure it is chilly but doubt if it is record lows. Not unusual to to get chilly temps at 8 or 9000 ft in the summer. The low will most likely be just before sunrise tomorrow morning only for a few minutes. I'd be more concerned about any hail.

We are camp hosts in Grant and it's really cold right now, at 48 degrees. Supposed to go down to 31 tonight.
