They just recently started charging "resort fees" for many of their campgrounds, especially those in places that are heavily used and popular with RVers. Here is an example Three percent daily resort fee and $4 per site fee at Lake Guntersville State Park. It's a backdoor way of raising revenue that I think will soon be the norm nationwide as states cut funding for parks and campgrounds.
Hmmmm: resort fees.
Nope, never paid any and won't pay any. Another reason we like state parks. :w

Actually, in some states, the state parks charge a daily entrance fee in addition to the camping fee, which is pretty much the same thing these resorts are doing.

What matters is total daily cost or total monthly cost, whether or not parts of the total are itemized. That includes local and state taxes, which might have to be listed separately as a government requirement.
Separate listing of mandatory "extra" fees by the park or resort lets the park advertise a lower basic rate, but only makes some people angry, thus is a bad business practice. For optional services, it makes sense.

TThe resort fee is being considered to offset those expenses incurred by the HOA that are not being recaptured by the HOA getting a rental commission.

westernrvowner sort of put it in perspective. The only issue I see is where he wrote, "........The individual that owns that lot can, of course, just roll the resort fee into their rental charge and no one would be the wiser......" But, if the owner included the fee in their rental charge, how would the renter be able to use the amenities provided without the HOA getting the fee? Maybe this is just a problem for this specific resort since it's so upscale, and many of us need not be concerned any further.
