Rocky Mountain National Park entrance reservation

Question

Last time out West, we camped in Grand Lake and loved it. In three weeks we check in to Spruce Lake CG near the East entrance. Has anyone dealt with the reservation system. It looks like there are two options: Bear Lake Drive or not Bear Lake drive. We've never been there, so we don't know which to purchase. We have three days to play July 4, 5, and 6 checking out the 7th.

Those of you that know Estes Park and the eastside or have had to deal with this new system, I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks!

To make the most of our three days, I secured a reservation for our first day for 1-3pm (the only time left available), knowing we'll be setting up camp in the morning. Unless you enter the lottery (and win) the night before your desired visit, you're not getting into the park with this exception: If you want to use Bear Lake Road without a reservation, you have to clear the entrance station before 5am and for the rest of the park excluding the Bear Lake Corridor, you need to arrive before 9am.
