Root River area in SE Minnesota

My wife would like to go to this area to camp. We read that the bike trail and towns in this are very nice. When I search for a good campground (access to trails, peaceful, clean/level spots) for our 40 ft RV I cannot get a good feel for the best location. Some sound nice and then I see a review about college kids that are there to tube the river partying all night. Anyone have any suggestions for that area?
  • We like Forestville/Mystery Cave State Park. There are only a few sites that you would be able to fit into, but the sites are private and the campground is very quiet.
  • Check out Eagle Cliff CG in Lanesboro, MN. You'll see more bikers in Lanesboro than at a bike convention.
You MUST have a piece of pie at the Aroma Pie Shop in Whalen. It's right off the trail and you'll see all of the bikes parked there. Check out their days and hours as I seem to remember they were closed on Mondays.
We spent a few days riding the trail last Summer and can send you a summary if you will send me a Private Message with your email address.

There aren't a lot of places to camp on the trail, but those are primative. There are campgrounds Away from the trail near Rushford better accomodating rvs. I wouldn't be too concerned about wild and roudy behavior. It's no better nor worse than anywhere else.
