RV Park Recomendations

RVparkreviews lists very few decent parks on the I-20 corridor between Tuscaloosa and Birmingham, AL. In fact, not too sure about any of them. Do any of you have a favorite in that area? Could even go a few miles east of Birmingham if necessary. Just need an overnighter with regular FHU's. I could boondock as a last resort, but rather watch some TV.
  • If you just want an easy overnight the City of Hoover has a campground at their stadium with full hookups. It is probably 3 minutes off of I-459. It seems to be just a sectioned off area of the parking lot, but it is a super easy location to get to, and is very convenient to lots of eateries, and shopping. It's very popular during the SEC baseball tournament, and other events they have there.

  • We like Birmingham South Pelham Alabama for an overnight stop - stayed there several times
  • We have stayed several times at Tannehill Ironworks State just west of Birmingham, and enjoyed it:

    Tannehill State Park

We have also stayed at Safe Harbor RV Park, east of Birmingham. Only recommended for an overnight, but if you want to go on east this is an option:

    Safe Harbor RV

We have always found I-459 an easy route around Birmingham. Lots of traffic, for sure, but we just go with the flow and have never had a slowdown in the many times we've followed that route.
