RV Parks near Monument Valley

We stayed at Gouldings a few years back and have no complaints.

Not much else in the area.

Gouldings was fine for us. You can dry camp on Indian Reservation land with much better views. If the wind is blowing, I'd rather be at Gouldings. If you go on a tour, put your camera in a zip lock bag till you use it. The fine red dust gets into everything.

There is some dry camping opportunities near the visitor center and then north of the park at Goosenecks State Park and in the Valley of the Gods area but if you want an RV park, Gouldings is it. That's all Navajo reservation land and there is very little development. BTW, we stayed at Gouldings two years ago and found it very acceptable for our 40' rig. The gas station there is also very big rig friendly.

Gouldings is ok and has a nice indoor pool but its several miles from the actual valley. I would stay at the Navajo tribal park right on the edge of the valley. No hookups and not a big place but its spectacular just walking a few feet to watch the sunrise or sunset. Don't think there are reservations, either (except for the Navajo one!) Last time we were there several years ago it was only $10/night but I'm sure thats changed now. They recently built a big hotel on the rim. You can also drive your truck down the valley for an 18 mile loop with no guide but if you want to see more you have to hire a local guide, they're standing around waiting for you.

UPDATE: I just went to the Tribal Park website and the campground is closed for construction till Dec 2013 so Gouldings is the only nearby park.

We stayed at Gouldings in 2003. We really enjoyed our stay and would go back there again.

you'll like Gouldings, and if you have time, take a look at their western movies paraphernalia.

Only problem we had was isolation. No cell back then, and our daughter was expecting, We went to Flagstaff instead. That was 12 years ago. And we made it home in time

Just a note: The CG at the Navajo Tribal Park is not open. Plans were to have it open by June, 2013. The latest info that I have is now Dec. 2013.

I liked Gouldings just fine in August 2011. Everything was run smoothly by the staff. You can book a tour of the valley that picks you up at the campground.

We stayed at the Cadillac Ranch RV Park in Bluff, UT, 45 minutes from Monument Valley. Considerably less expensive than Goldings and centrally located to visit the Valley of the Gods, Goosenecks SP, as well as Monument Valley.
