Key word here is "violent crime rate." Let's not sugar coat things for newcomers, there is crime in the Valley. To say otherwise is simply deceptive to those that take the time and spend the money to tour the area for a winter stay.
Can you drive thru a not so good park at night and feel safe, mostly. Can you park the same car, leave the windows down, and walk away with an item in the back or a GPS on the dash, wellllll......
The real Keyword is "Normal"! Most crimes taking place in the RGV and actually all south-TX is the same type of crime you will find in any state, and probably where you live during the summer!
