- 3_dog_nightsExplorerSantee State Park
Stayed 1 night on the 6th of Feb. Told them I had a 40' 5'ver with slides & needed 50amp site. They said no problem. Found most of the sites to be U shaped with trees lining the inside of the turn. Interior roads were very tight
and rough. Found 1 site (#12) that was fairly straight that I was able to back into but it was 30amp (thankfully I had my dogbone) Biggest problem I found was the ferral cats running all over the CG. My dogs were going nuts.
It worked for an overnight, but I'll find somewhere else for the next trip. - JamesBrExplorerIf you can manage going a little further south, I can recommend new green acres (exit 53) or Point South Koa (exit 33) in SC. We stay at eiter of them going south to FL every year.
- trafficmakerExplorerI walked all over Santee SP this past Saturday and there were no frozen pipes. everyone in cg looked content, the wild life was abundant, and had a great time. I would pick it anytime other than summer to use. The gun fire some may of heard is duck hunters, but sound does carry a long ways over water. No hunting on the big water anywhere near cg. I see no reason why a short stay would be out of the question, well other than the snow and ice predicted for the next 2 days...
- VAfanExplorerThanks everyone.....will check it out. Santee state park is always an option but per a conversation Friday with a ranger water pipes are frozen due to the latest cold snap. Would be a good idea to call before planning to stay.
- 3_dog_nightsExplorerWill be at the Santee State Park on the 5th, I'll report back. Can't say about the Santee Lakes Campground except 2x $$$
- tegu69ExplorerIt was ok. Sites a little close together and road bumpy. We stayed there and Little pee dee for Memorial Day weekend last year.
- RVUSAExplorer. removed as we may have been talking about 2 different parks.
- cruising_spudExplorer IIOMG-we were on our way home from Florida a few years ago and stopped here for an overnight. We paid, pulled in, and were TOTALLTY appalled. Worst campground ever. Like entering a third world country. I am NOT kidding. We drove back to the office and asked for our money back. The woman at the desk said, "No problem," and returned our money.
Now, I'm not saying that someone couldn't have fixed it up since then, but there is no way I would ever venture back here again. - RVUSAExplorerInteresting place. Got me up out of the sack and outside at the crack of dawn from all the gunshots going on though. From what I could tell the natives on the other side of the lake are still celebrating the civil war there every morning. :B
- pa_travelerExplorerIts nice there. Eat at Lonestar Barbeque you wont be disappointed.Go on there website to look at how many full hookups there are,I don't recall but there were not a lot call and reserve. Also there is a nice bridge walk out by I-95,its an old unused bridge ,you can see where I-95 crosses over the water.Every day half hour before dark a mocking bird would sing his heart out near the park office he really put on an audible show.
