SC State Parks Plan to Reopen

If SC thinks its numbers are down enough with adequate testing and medical experts agreeing, then that’s their decision.

An additional 172 South Carolinians have contacted the coronavirus, bringing the statewide number to 4,608, state health officials said Tuesday. Eleven additional death were also announced by the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control, raising the death count to 135.

I’m not sure the above post is helpful but I do believe the SC parks can open for those of us with fully self contained RV’s. They never should have closed in the first place. Yes close for day use, yes close the park stores, yes close the bathroom facilities except the ones needed for park staff. But if you have a mh or tt or 5 ver then you should be able to camp.

There is nothing unsafe about opening places like this. Provided everyone follows the new rules. People can’t sit at home and be expected to be Ok with it. Our mental health is just as important and the people that are getting sick!

Georgia parks have remained open for camping the whole time.

I am of the belief that RVing is one of the easiest ways overall to socially distance. Easy to shut down the public facilities, minimally man the park, and allow people to camp and get away from the stress etc...

Good luck with it. Hopefully all the campground staff doesn't contact Covid19 because of that decision. If they do, the campers should be footing the bill.

And if they do chances are that they won’t even know they are sick. Just like most everyone else.

Unfortunately the way it works many may not know, but sooner or later they infect someone who does know. From there we are just rolling the dice.

Good grief. .01% of our population have encountered the virus. 3% of that .01% have passed away and some may have died from other causes shortly due to other reasons. There is no reason NOT to start opening parks and businesses especially if they follow common sense hygiene and distancing guidelines. People in other states may have different conditions and opinions. Golf courses are open and doing a booming business. Allowing camping in our wonderful state parks is a good thing.
