Does anyone know of a campground with seasonal sites along the Mississippi River near Dubuque, IA that allows you to have camp fires.

You might want to do a little bit more research on that before you buy into a seasonal site on the Mississippi.:W

I stayed at Tom Sawyers CG on the Mississippi and that CG goes completely under water when the Mississippi overflows. The CG website even states they will be open depending if the ole Mississippi hasn't covered it and to call ahead before coming!

The Mississippi hits flood stage quite often. You might want to google search how often it overflows "in the area" you are looking. Just saying!

You can check with the COE.
Tom Sawyer’s is located so close to the Mississippi River, sometimes we’re in it! The Mississippi River can cause us to close periodically anytime from December into early June but most often April or May. The Corps of Engineers and National Weather Service provide river stage forecasts... http://tomsawyerrvpark.com/?page_id=11
  • The only seasonal site on the river that I know of is north of Cassville. It is called Schleichers Landing. I'm sure it floods most springs. With electric hookups eight feet off the ground they expect to have high water.
