Service Park Campground COE

Just a quick note on the great people working and volunteering at Service Park Campground, AL. We stopped in on our way home from Florida and were greeted by the nicest gate personnel ever. After they apologized for not having many sites open on that Friday afternoon they bantered back and forth on which of the remaining sites were the best for us "new people" to view the tug boats on the Tombigbee Waterway.
They said that with our Geezer pass our rent would be $13.00, they thought, but weren't sure, due to the new rates, but weren't sure when they took effect. We gladly paid it and enjoyed our wonderful site and evening.
Last week, after returning home for a week, we received an envelope with a card stating that we were over charged $1.00 and that the rate increase was not in effect when we were there. So they enclosed a one dollar bill and their apologizes.
Are the Corp park great or what???
Our 2351D Phoenix Cruiser, Jack, has turned us from campers into RVers and loving it!

If we are actually looking for a campground (a rarity for us travelers), COE is always a first choice and we have never been disappointed.

A sailor, his bride and their black dogs (one dear dog is waiting for us at the bridge) going to see some dry places that have Geocaches in a coach made the year we married.

Yes Service is a nice park. Beware the tight turnaround but otherwise it's great.

There seems to be something about COE parks in Alabama and Mississippi that folks are super nice.

US highway 84 at the Tombigbee River, nearest town is Silas, AL, from Skidaway Island State Park in Savannah, its exactly 500 miles according to Google maps. Just type in Service Park Campground AL in Google Maps and it will take you right to it. There are a number of nice COE campgrounds in Alabama on the various rivers.
