We have multiple Dishes and LNB's and both Old and New Receivers! All work fine whether at Home or Down South.
No We do not get the New HD Channels on the third Bird!
We only subscribe to the bottom tier anyway so there isn't much difference for Us, maybe We lose a couple of Channels.
Our 600 series boxes use the New 3 SAT LNB.
Our Older Boxes use the Older 2 SAT LNB
All Dishes are 75 Cm so everything is interchangeable.
I find it easier to Aim the Dish using the Early system, but I am still using the Manual mounting method.

One Important TIP. Leave at least one Receiver at Home ,connected and plugged into Electricity.

Whoever a receiver refresh is required do it via the internet! Never phone the provider or give away your location while out of the country.

The new LNB works fine down south, don't worry about upgrading it. We have it at our place in San Tan Valley with no problems as well as at home. Get all the new channels at home with the new 600 series receivers and still get what we got before down south. If we try one of the new channels it just says lost sat signal.

The new one doesn't. The old one does. Just not as many HD channels. And don't tell them where you are when south of the border.
Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.

we have the 75cm dish on our lot in Arizona(Quartzsite). We get all the channels, but not the new HD ones, from the new satellite. We just leave our service on at home, and have no problems for the last 10 years being in Arizona. Good things never last, so I guess we are all taking a chance for reception these days. Also, we did not upgrade the LNB at home or on our lot. Kept the old one. Thats apparently why we still have coverage. Dona

Yes, I think the best way to go is the 75cm dish. Whenever we camp with our friends in AZ who have the 60cm dish their signal always sucks.
You still get Shaw down south but not the new satellite they put in the air last year.

You need the 75 cm dish for the best signal strength when you are south. The 60 cm will work but it's harder to tune the signal and the signal strength can be reduced substantially.

Find the space.
