Shawnee State Park

Looking for info on Shawnee State Park near Portsmouth,Ohio. All reviews that I have found are dated. Specifically need to know if any of the "Walk-in sites" will accommodate a 37' M/H. I'm going to be going to the State Golf Course nearby for 3 days. Or If you know of any other campground close by that might work for me, that info will be greatly appreciated .

Thanks
  • I was a volunteer camp host there for a month a few years back. I was there with a 37' FW. All sites are not the same size however. There are some that would be big enough and some that would not. The folks working in the office are pretty knowledgeable about the site sizes. I would give them a call.
  • I have never stayed there but did drive through and took notes. I just looked them up and wrote down that I thought the sites were pretty small and was unsure if there would be one to accommodate me (34ft fiver) but in my opinion the best site was number 21. if you can fit in there it will be very cozy.

Why don't you just call the park and ask them?

The reason ,as most experienced RV'ers know, is that the people at the park give you the same info that is on their website, which is not always accurate . Most of the employees do a great job, but most of them do not own a Motorhome.

I thank you for responding, but I'm looking for a RV'er who has been there and can give accurate advice/report

There's some fine friendly southern RV.net advice.

OP: never stayed there have drove thru it, it seems to be OK some really small sites but some that would work for you just not sure they are available. Just a few miles east of there is Lazy Village Campground, not much to it but works for what you need maybe. Actually about as close to golf course as the SP. They have some eide open pull thrus up front, it seems to be a more seasonal type CG, but the owners are nice. Hope this helps.

Edit: Lazy River is right off hwy 52 before you get to the turn off to the SP. You will pass by it.
