Sky View Observatory vs. Space Needle-Seattle

So I'll apologize now if I drive you all nuts with questions about Seattle/Vancouver/Victoria! We generally make a list of "must-sees" then pick from that-until we are on our way somewhere and change our minds! :B

Same question-if you've been to both, would you pick one over the other, or please tell me of a feature that you find outstanding. Thanks!
  • Staying close to the Pike Street Market?

    Yes, about 8 blocks.

then the Space Needle is a short walk as well.

Have you been to the Sky View Observatory as well? Still looking for differences or preferences between the two.
  • Staying close to the Pike Street Market? An interesting sight to see as well. Don't miss the fish throwing.
If close to there then the Space Needle is a short walk as well.
  • Hi there...sounds like a fun trip is planned!

In Seattle you might see the Jimi Hendrix EMP museum or Paul Allen Computer Museum and check out the Flagship REI store with Indoor Climbing Pinnacle!
  • Don't understand how distance from attraction has anything to do with being able to find a parking spot. ????

We're staying in a condo in downtown Seattle. If we can walk, parking is not an issue. If we can only walk to one, that may take precedence so we don't have to fight with parking. If we have to drive to both, the parking situation may dictate which one we go to. May seem like a strange way to pick which one, but sometimes less stress in getting there overtakes the small differences between two similar attractions.

Army, thanks for the info on the CityPass. I've seen advertising for it but didn't investigate it just yet. Sounds like they are definitely worth it.
  • We have visited Seattle numerous times and enjoy the Space Needle. Twice, we have opted to buy a CityPASS. The Seattle CityPASS is a booklet of admission tickets to 5 great tourist attractions in Seattle. You'll save 46% compared to combined regular box office prices.

  • If you are driving, parking may be easier at the Space Needle.

That will depend on how far the condo we are renting is from either.

On a clear day your can see Mt. Rainier.

  • Sky View gives a better view of Mt Rainier, the two stadium and better view all around. Weather must be right to see items in the distance.
