South Carolina suggestions

Do any of you have a recommendation on a CG in South Carolina? We would be 6 adults no kids, FHU and would like a waterfront site that will accommodate a 30 ft TT and a tent. This would be a family reunion with a DS and his DW coming from Charlotte NC and the other DS and his DW would be coming from SW Fl along with me and my DW. I am really not into CG that are like parking lots with no privacy between sites. The Myrtle Beach KOA looks pretty nice and I think we will go in May to try and avoid both the bugs and the families on vacation. No offense to families, I just don't want to take a site away from a family, after all my boys were small once and I know how hard it is to plan a vacation. I've posted this before but only got Georgia recommendations. Thanks for your help.

We stayed here and loved it. Nice large park with great bike paths and nice campsites. Good location as well. I would highly recommend it.

X2 on Willow Tree

It is up near north myrtle (cherry grove). About 15 minutes from the ocean and 15-20 minutes to all the myrtle beach stuff.

The park has a lake that is spring feed with inflatables to play on and there is a pool and hot tub onsite. All the sites are level, concrete and pull through (except the lake front ones). They are all full hookups and spaced nicely apart.

We will be there is a couple of weeks. Can't wait.

Edisto Beach State Park. It's a ways from the main highway, but is a wonderful spot with a few waterfront sites.

SC's a pretty varied state. You might also search across the state for probably cooler, less buggy, maybe more scenic CG's. Look along SC 11, the Cherokee Foothills Parkway and around Caesar's Head SP. I don't have a specific recommendation, since it's a day trip for me, or even shorter if I'm staying at Davidson River NFCG.

Unless it has changed again the last time I was in Myrtle during Bike Week the city of Myrtle Beach proper was pretty void of bikes due to the city ordinances they passed about cruising and helmets. South of Myrtle towards Pirateland, et. al. was packed with bikes. YMMV.

This is another Beach front State CG that we find very enjoyable. Located between Myrtle Beach and Hunting Island (Beaufort, SC)

Go before June or after mid Sept. Make Reservations EARLY in the year if you expect to get choice sites.

If FHU is not a real necessity, my first choice would be Huntington Beach State Park. Close to Myrtle Beach, close to many good restaurants, big sites, and it's on the beach.

Great place and you still have enough advance time to get good sites for next May. Sites are behind the dunes, with paths that lead to the sand and ocean.

My first choice though would be Hunting Island State Park (similar name but different location) with sites even closer to the ocean if you book early. Close to the charming town of Beaufort.

Check out Springfield Corps of Engineers park on Lake Hartwell. The spaces are big, with lots of space between sites. Almost all sites are water front and the lake level is at maximum. It's not far off I-85 and about 30 miles from Greenville.
