south Florida campground recommendations

We stayed at Collier-Seminole SP this week in Naples.
Dated facility but clean,peaceful with nice people. We enjoyed two days en route from the Keys to Fl west coast.

Regarding COE parks-- there are 3 in FL that I am aware of... WP Franklin, Ortona and St. Lucie... the campsites are all very nice and pretty hard to get a reservation for. You may want to check into MidWay CG in the Everglades. Also, there are many county parks like Larry and Penny Thompson,CB Smith, TY park,etc. to investigate .

Does this park have a campground? Did not see one on the website.

Having camped in both many times I would stay in Koreshan State park.

Defiantly in spring/summer/fall to avoid heavy mosquito activity.

Commuter must be thinking of a different location; Don Pedro does not have camping. Collier-Seminole is nice. If you want to go a bit further north Oscar Scherer and Myakka River are nice. If you want to get a winter site in a FL state park you better makes your reservations now.

Maybe OP was thinking of Fort DeSoto? A very nice Pinellas County campground at the foot of Tampa Bay.

Also there may be a 14 day limit on both state parks and COE parks and unless you have reservations through the season, spots won't be available to move, especially on weekends and holidays.

John Prince in West Palm Beach has some monthlys. County.
Larry Penny Thompson has monthlys. Miami Dade
Tons to do near both.

WP Franklin has mostly small sites...Ortono South is quite a distance from anything and South St. Lucie has only a few sites available...there is a 14 day limit that includes ALL THREE parks as they border on the same waterway so they're considered one and the same.....Dennis
